When your schedule says 'library', 'information seeking' or perhaps 'reference management', we would like to encourage you as a student to participate in these.

At the teaching session, we develop skills needed to effectively search, evaluate, and critically review and manage information. This is important in order to be able to write academic textsuch as take-home exams and essays, for example.

The lectures usually focus on

Information retrieval

Being able to search and find relevant information is a fundamental skill for all students. Whether you are writing an essay, preparing a presentation or working on a project, it is important to be able to find reliable and relevant sources, in databases and/or search services.

Reference management

Properly managing references is crucial to avoid plagiarism and to give credibility to a work. There are different reference systems and you will learn what is used in your program or course.

Source criticism

Being able to assess the credibility and relevance of sources is an important skill in today's information society. By critically reviewing sources, you can ensure that information is accurate and reliable.

Workshops

After the lectures, workshops are often offered where we practice what is presented at the lecture.

No two lectures or workshops are the same as we constantly strive to provide what is needed for the task that you currently have in front of you.

Why is this important?

These skills are not only important for studies, but also for future professional life. Regardless of the profession you choose to work in, the knowledge to search, assess and manage information in an efficient and ethical way will be needed.

We hope that you take this advice to heart and look forward to seeing you at our teaching sessions and workshops! Do not hesitate to contact the library if you have any questions or need further support.
