Library card/Library account

You don't need a library card as a distance learner -  only a library account. You have to register at the Student portal/My account and then you are ready to use the library services. If you want to request a book from our catalogue, just log in with your Swedish ID number and PIN-code.

If you are enrolled as a distance learner and live outside Trollhättan and Vänersborg, you can ask to have books sent to your home address. An overdue fee is charged according to library regulations for books which are not returned by the due date.

When you send the books in return, you have to pay the return postage fees. Remember to put enough stamps on your package otherwise you will have to make an additional payment to the post office and your loan period will be expired. You can find postage rates on PostNords webpage.

Search for and request books and articles

You can find books belonging to the library in the Library Search system where you can request books that you would like to have sent to your home address. To make a request you need to have a library card and a PIN-code.

  1. Find the book you would like to request in the Library Search system.
  2. Contact us at bibliotek@hv.se and ask to get the book sent to your home. Specify that you are a distance learner, Swedish ID number, your name and which books you would like to borrow.

If the book is already loaned by another user and you want to queue for it:

  1. Find the book you would like to request in the Library Search system.
  2. Click on "request"
  3. Log in with your Swedish ID number and PIN-code.
  4. When the book is returned you will receive a mail that says that it's ready to be picked up at the library. When you get this mail, contact us at bibliotek@hv.se and ask to get the book sent to your home. Specify that you are a distance learner, Swedish ID number, your name and which books you would like to borrow.

Certain materials cannot be borrowed, e.g. reference books. Journals may not be removed from the library either, but you are welcome to request copies of articles.

REMEMBER THAT

If you want to make an interlibrary loan you should first of all contact your public library. If it is an article you need it may be more advantageous to request it through the University West library.
