Loan periods

The loan period is 14 days for printed books. This also applies to interlibrary loans for libraries. E-books may have different loan periods.

If no one is queuing for the book, you can renew it up to 16 times. Loans are renewed by the borrower themselves via the library account.

Reserved material must be collected within 3 days.

When the loan period expires

Three days before the loan period expires, you will receive a reminder to the email address associated with your library account.

If your loan period has expired, you will receive a claim sent to your email address. A second claim will be sent after 6 days.

If you are a student, reminders, claims and information will be sent to your private email address if you have registered it in My Account, otherwise to your student email.

If you return the material late, the library will charge fees according to the price list. If you have paid your invoice and later find the lost material, the invoice will not be refunded, but the material is then in your possession.

Materials reserved by another borrower will be claimed immediately after the end of a 14-day period.

Blocked account

Borrowers who have unpaid fees that exceed SEK 150 will be blocked from loans and our services until the fee is paid. Borrowers who, despite repeated demands, do not return their loans, are suspended from loans until all overdue loans have been returned or replaced.

Students who have been suspended by the school are suspended from the library during the same time.

Power of attorney for loans

If you are unable to pick up your ordered book within the prescribed time, we will give another person the opportunity to borrow it for you. Anyone who is going to collect a loan on behalf of someone else must be able to present a valid ID document and the borrower's ID as a power of attorney.

Have the book sent as a distance student

If you are a student who is enrolled as a distance student at University West, you have the opportunity to order material for loans that we send to your home by mail (within Sweden). Return postage is paid by the borrower.

This service is for those who do not live in the cities of Trollhättan or Vänersborg.

How to reserve a book as a national distance student

Search for the book in the library catalog and place a reservation. The book will be picked by the staff and placed on the library’s hold shelf for three days. You will receive an email when the book is placed on the hold shelf.

Since you cannot pick up the book yourself, reply to the email and ask the library to send it to you. The library will send the book to the address registered in Ladok (the student system).

Return postage is paid by you when sending the book back.
